Community Park Effort

People living in Vaalwater say that they have no place to chill out. Waterberg Tourism is now working with the community to correct this. Already one park area has been cleaned up. In November community member Nic Callichy rose to the challenge to have his team of bush clearers clear the park above Laerskool of unwanted shrubs and bush.

Two young men, who are volunteers at the Waterberg Tourism Information Kiosk, have demonstrated that they have special skills in making films and taking photos. Freddy Lechelele and Nico Phire produced an unexpected excellent video for the company that has led to them to form their own company, Waterberg Media Productions.

They are Joshua Mabetwa and Taryn Lockhart and their recruitment company will be doing both temporary and permanent recruitment placing. They will be specialising in the hospitality industry and hope to service the local game lodges and farms with local, experienced staff.

Many exciting things are happening in Vaalwater since Waterberg Tourism was launched five months ago by Mayor Marlene van Staden.
More than four hundred lodges, activities and businesses have added their details to the data base. “We are hoping that number will increase to more than one thousand” says John Bufton of PC Doctor who developed this sophisticated product.
