Bela-Bela – the Gateway to the Bushveld

Welcome to our beautiful town, Bela-Bela!  With roughly 22 000 beds available throughout our resorts, lodges, hotels, caravan parks, golf estates, guest houses, bed & breakfast and bush camps and loads of fun activities to explore, we just know that you will have a wonderful stay!

Bela-Bela derived its name from the geothermic hot springs which is well-known even in other parts of the world.  The hot spring is located at Warmbaths, a Forever Resort and it produces a constant 22,000 litres per hour at 52 °C.  Do visit the resort to see the source and majestic bronze sculpture that adjourns it.  It is quite an experience to feel the heat which is exhumed from the eye of the source and a nice learning opportunity for kids.  Of further interest is that the depth of the source could never be clearly estimated, and the temperature and volume of the water has not changed since the resort was first built.

Today Bela-Bela is a much-loved tourism destination. The constant sunshine and range of leisure facilities and interesting places to visit, makes this the perfect place to hide out for a while.

Do make time to explore all that our town has to offer – there are so many lovely bed and breakfast guesthouses, resorts and reserves, hiking trails, game drives and adventure activities to choose from!   Explore Bela-Bela recently visited the big cat sanctuary at Mabalingwe Nature Reserve which we can recommend, as well Cheetah Experience, Mystic Monkeys, Loebies Predator Park, Warmbad Zoo, Bambelela Wildlife Care And Vervet Monkey Rehabilitation which offers a range of wildlife activities and facilities to enjoy!

Many of our resorts and guesthouses offer spa treatments, do book in advance to enjoy a treatment at The Hydro at Warmbaths, a Forever Resort, Iketla Spa at Sondela Nature Reserve or Baobab Spa at Buyskop Lodge.  In this edition of Explore Bela-Bela, we also focus on retirement in the Bushveld. Do look out for our local retirement home, Warmbad Rusoord that is renowned for their dynamic yet emphatic management style, as well as the lovely lifestyle retirement development at Sondela Nature Reserve – where your children will want to visit you!  Another popular family destination is ATKV Klein Kariba and the new kid on the block is Meloding Guesthouse!

More favourites are the two shopping malls with its choice of shops, liquor stores, butcheries, take-away outlets and restaurants.

Nature conservation is very close to our hearts and we encourage you to explore the many zoo’s, animal parks, conservation centres and nature reserves.  Nothing blows away the city cobwebs like a refreshing game drive on an open vehicle or on horse-back!

We are extremely proud of our superb sporting facilities.  Our golf resorts are of outstanding quality and the local boat club is a lovely spot for water skiing or boating.

Please like our Facebook page and share your stories and pictures with us.  Do enjoy your visit, be safe and please return soon!
